Course Description
This course is intended to provide the students with the fundamental concepts of computers and its applications. It also covers histor of computing, number systems, basic concepts and history of the internet, internet security, information ethics, and the practical uses of the common application softwares today.
IT 1 - Computer Concepts and Fundamentals
Objectives:
- Acquire basic understanding on computers’ basic concepts and principles;
- Examine the underlying components of the computer system and the organizing principles of number systems, internet, security of the internet, and information ethics;
- Develop and enhance skills on the practical applications of some application softwares, e.g. word processing, presentation, and spreadsheets;
- Adapt to the working environment in the information technology industry.
